As a child, Juju Davis’s spirited nature sometimes overwhelmed her shy friends.
The challenge of helping others feel comfortable taught her how to connect with bashful friends and animals alike.
Those early experiences shaped her belief that the smallest acts of kindness can create the greatest friendships.
A Day With Mei: Cricket Comes to Play was inspired by the gentle connection between children and animals—and by her Asian-American daughter, Rachel Mei, whose tenacious spirit lights up her days. Through Mei and Cricket’s story, she hopes to remind young readers that showing patience and kindness can help build beautiful friendships.
Juju lives in Northwest Arkansas with her sweet
and reserved husband and two rambunctious
dogs. She enjoys treasure-hunting walks in nature with her four grandchildren, and noticing the small moments that inspire big stories.
